Day One: La Junta / Cochamo Valley Trail
We will meet in the morning on this day in the town of Cochamo at a predetermined location where you will organize and pack your luggage for the trip to La Junta. When we’re all packed and ready to go we’ll drive a short distance to the trail head of the Cochamo Valley Trail to meet up with the Pack Horse(s). After a brief orientation and loading of your belongings on the horse(s) you and your guide(s) (guides carry first aid kits and radios) will start the 3-4 hour trip up the valley on foot with lunch being served along the way. After arriving at the Refugio Cochamo lodge and settling in you will have time for a quick hike or just sit back relax and enjoy the view of the surrounding granite walls before dinner is served.
Day Two: La Junta
Today is your day to enjoy this beautiful part of the Cochamo Valley with a variety of trekking trails to suit the various ability levels. After breakfast a guide will organize and accompany all groups on a trekking excursion which normally will take most of the day to complete (lunch will be served somewhere along the trail). Upon returning to the lodge in the evening you will be able to relax and enjoy the surroundings while the guide(s) prepare the evening meal.
Day Three: Departure
After breakfast it will be time to say goodbye to La Junta and hike back down the valley (with a trail lunch) to meet your shuttle back to Cochamo with time to unpack and reorganize your belongings before continuing on with your next travel plans.
